ALL TEAMS MUST CHECK-IN NO LATER THAN 30 MIN BEFORE THEIR FIRST GAME THE DAY OF COMPETITION.
THE PLAYERS
Registration: Tournament fees must be paid no later than at team check-in. All players must be registered on their team’s 6v6 roster, and must be AT LEAST 18 years of age. Roster changes, substitutions and additions must be made before the start of a team’s first game. Any team or player determined by the event director to have falsified their age will be dismissed from the tournament. Players must have an identification card to verify age.
Number of Players: A team shall consist of a maximum of 12 players. A team must field a minimum of 4 players for the entire game. 6 players, including goalkeeper are on the field at a time.
* CO-ED A team must have 2 female players on the field at all times.
Player Substitutions: Substitutions may be made on the fly but may not be done in a way that gives a team an advantage (referee's discretion).
Player Equipment: All players MUST wear shin guards, NO EXCEPTIONS. Any player without shin guards will not be allowed to play. Each registered player must also be prepared to provide matching light & dark colored shirts for each game. Home team gets to choose the uniform color, visiting team must change. During playoffs the seeded team will determine preferences. Numbers on jerseys are not required. Soccer cleats (no studs or toe cleats,) turf shoes, or flat-soled shoes must be worn. Players may not wear rings (except wedding bands,) watches, earrings or hard hair pieces. Players will not be allowed to play with a hard cast (even if wrapped.)
Player Ejection: Referees reserve the right to eject a player from a game for continual disobedience or as a result of an incident that warrants sending the player off. The team may then continue with their remaining players; however, if the player receiving the red card was in the field of play, the team must complete the game with only five players on the field. The tournament director will decide suspension from additional games. Fighting will result in an automatic ejection from the tournament. Discipline (blue/yellow cards) see league rules.
FIELD OF PLAY
There is NO OFFSIDE and NO SLIDE TACKLING in soccer6 6-A-Side Soccer.
Field Dimensions: 30 yds x 50 yds..
Goalkeeper Restrictions: If a goalkeeper commits any of the following infractions inside his/her own penalty area, the opponent shall be awarded a free kick at the top of the penalty area.
A. If a teammate intentionally kicks the ball to the goalkeeper, the goalkeeper may not handle the ball. (Indirect)
B. Once a goalkeeper gains full control of the ball wit his hands or feet inside the penalty area, he must release the ball into play outside the penalty area or to another teammate within 5 seconds. (Indirect)
C. Goal keepers may not throw the ball in the air across half line. The ball must bounce on their half before crossing over the half line. If a gk commits this offense, the opponent shall be awarded the ball at the center half. (Indirect)
Seeding: Teams will be seeded according to the information provided on the entry form. Soccer6 will schedule teams according to ability, age, and experience.
Ball Size: All games will use size 5 balls.
Goal Scoring: A goal may be scored from anywhere on the field. The ball changes possession after a goal is scored and play is restarted at the center half of the field.
Restarts: All restarts are kicks. When a ball goes out of bounds on the sideline, a kick in on the line will restart play. This is an Indirect kick and may not be directly shot into the goal. Goal kicks and corner kicks apply. Direct and Indirect fouls will be called. A 5 yd space must be given by a defending team.
Kick Off: Is a direct kick and may be taken in any direction. A goal may be scored from a kick off.
Five Yard Rule: In all dead ball situations, restarts, including game start and halftime start, defending players must stand at least 5 yards away from the ball. If the defensive player’s goal area is closer than 5 yards, the ball shall be placed 5 yards from the goal line within the place of the penalty.
Kick-Ins: There are NO throw-ins. The ball shall be kicked into play from the sideline instead of throw in. The defending player must be at least 5 yards from ball on all kick-ins. All kick-ins are indirect.
Goal Kicks: May be taken on any point inside the goal keeper area. The ball must be completely stopped.
THE TOURNAMENT
Competition Format: Format will be determined based on the number of teams participating but typically looks like this; First round consists of a minimum of 3 games in a round robin format. The playoff rounds are single elimination. The Championship round is single elimination. Playoff overtime shall consist of a 5-minute sudden death “golden goal” overtime period, with a coin toss to decide kick-off direction. The first team to score in overtime is the winner. If no team has scored within the 5 minutes, additional 5 minutes overtime periods will be played until a winner is determined.
Game Duration: The game consists of two 15-minute halves, with a 2-minute half-time. Games tied after regulation play shall end in a tie except in the playoffs. At the discretion of the referee and the tournament director, a game will be forfeited if both teams are not present at game time. The present team will be awarded a win; the absent team will take a loss. Teams are responsible for waiting until their seed for playoffs has been determined. There are no time-outs in soccer6.
